Program

Young string players are invited to participate in the 1st Music Camp “Cremona for Strings”, organized by Rotary Club Cremona and Rotary Club Cremona Po.
Besides the technical – instrumental and interpretative course with international teachers, the program provides : theoretical and historical lectures, organized by the University of Pavia, School of Musicology; visit of the collection of string instruments of the city of Cremona, visit of the Stradivari Museum; visit of a primary violinmaker.

Participants

12 players (6 violins, 3 violas, 3 cellos) ; the camp is opened to musicians from all over the world (Italy excepted) ; only one representative per nation possibly.

Special Requirements

Audition will be conducted by a committee using video recordings (made no earlier than June 2009), in accordance with the following program:

Violin :

1.Two contrasting movements from JS Bach,Sonatas and Partitas for violin.

2. First movement from one of the following concertos for violin and orchestra : L. van Beethoven, J.Brahms, F.Mendelssohn, Bartholdy, W.A.Mozart (N.3 in G major K.216, N.4 in D major K.218, N.5 in A major K.219), J.Sibelius.

3.N.Paganini, a Capriccio.

Viola :

1.      Two contrasting movements from JS Bach, Cello Suites transcribed for Viola

2.      First movement from a major sonata for viola and piano.

3.      First movement from a major concert OR a concert piece for viola and orchestra.

Cello :

1.      Two contrasting movements  from JS Bach, Cello Suites

2.      First movement from a major sonata for cello and piano

3.      First movement from a major concerto OR a concert piece for cello and orchestra.

 

Host Clubs

Rotary Club Cremona and Rotary Club Cremona Po District 2050.

Arrival / Departure

In Cremona, no earlier than 10.00 on Saturday 12th June and no later than 21.00 on Subday 13th June 2010.
Departure from Cremona on Saturday 26th june 2010.

Costs

Entrance and attendance fee is 300 € (to be paid after admission) and includes board and lodging, as well as any educational activity and planned visits ; not included : travel to and from Cremona and personal expenses. No refund is due in case of renunciation.

Insurance

Participants must be insured against illness, accident and third party damages and all other risks according to Rotary International recommendations .

 

Registration

Applications and audition recordings (DVD,PAL system) must be received no later than 30 January 2010 together with a curriculum vitae.
The date of receipt determines admission.
