Tijdens zijn vergadering van januari 2008 heeft de Centrale Raad van RI een herindeling van de zones goedgekeurd.

De bestuurders van Rotary worden verkozen door de 34 zones. Het huishoudelijk reglement van Rotary International vereist dat de samenstelling van de zones ten minste elke acht jaar herzien wordt om een evenwichtige verdeling van het aantal Rotariërs te behouden.
